July 9-13 : 9am-11am

Drawing Studio is designed for students that love the act of drawing, as well as the drawing tools and materials that go with it. In this class, we will work with a variety of drawing pens, pencils, markers, and inks. Students will also draw on different surfaces, from bristol to boards, to create their original pieces.

LEGO STUDIO
July 9-13 : 1pm-3pm

In Lego Studio, students will create fantastic art, structures, and creatures out of those amazing building bricks--LEGO. We'll start our designs on paper, and then move to 3-D constructions to realize our creative vision. Lego Studio uses the familiar play-pattern of building with blocks to teach fundamentals.

COLLAGE STUDIO
July 16-20 : 9am-11am

Cut, tear, glue, arrange, rearrange, cut and tear some more! In this studio, we will create collages using a variety of papers and objects. We'll experiment with different glues and mediums as well. By layering, adhering and arranging, students will make portraits, creatures, still lifes, and abstract pieces.

CLAY STUDIO
July 16-20 : 1pm-3pm

Think clay is all the same? In Clay Studio we will work with a variety of clays with different properties, like gray, red and modeling. Students will use their hands and tools to manipulate and alter their material. Projects include free standing sculptures and relief works.

PAINTING STUDIO
August 13-17 : 9am-11am

During Painting Studio, we delve into painting techniques and experiment with tools and materials of our own creation. Students will mix up their own special paints as well as paint on a variety of surfaces. We will explore different ways of applying paint using traditional and non-traditional tools to create portraits, creatures, and abstract pieces.

WOOD STUDIO
August 13-17 : 1pm-3pm

In this studio focused on wood, students will experiment with wood elements to create sculptures, assemblages, and prints. Students will work three dimensionally to build relief and free standing works, as well as use wood as a tool to create two dimensional pieces.

PRINTMAKING STUDIO
August 20-24 : 9am-11am

Over the week students will explore the world of printmaking-creating images through repetition and transfer of paint and ink. We'll investigate a range of techniques including monoprints, collagraphs and other methods of printing by hand on a variety of papers, using wood, foam, cardboard and objects. We'll also expand on our printing projects, by painting or drawing over a print, or printing on an art pieces.

Make-up policy: Due to the nature of our courses and small class size, there are NO MAKE-UPS in Summer Lab classes.

Class cancellation policy: In the event Brooklyn Design Lab cancels your registered class, you will be notified as soon as possible and refunded.
